Subject: RE: Question about last boil water notice

Importance: Normal

Gerald,

I was looking on the drinking water page and the last documented Boil Notice was in 1996. I am not aware of any other Boil advisories. We use Sodium Hypochlorite 12.5% for disinfection so we have chlorine in our water system usually about 0.7-1.0 ppm. The maximum limit is 4.0 ppm. We don’t have chloramines. Chloramines are created when you add ammonia to chlorine in the finished water, some towns use chloramines to have longer-lasting disinfection for large distribution systems.

Subject: Question about last boil water notice

Hi Ryan,

Talked to a lady this evening that wanted to know when the last boil water notice was given by Molalla. She is installing a filter system for someone here and asked about chlorine vs chloramine too. Heads up.
