Nicole, yes I understand you’ve been promised dates in the past. We should be able to track better now that work orders systems are properly in place. It’s always good to make whoever you talk to at the City give you a work order number!

The crew visited the ditch this morning at 10am and said there is no danger of flooding right now. Given that the ditch isn’t flooding in a 6” rain event I’m thinking we should be okay for the near term. Let me know if something changes?

Thanks,

Andy Peters

Thank you for the response Andy, this job was actually just assigned a number by you on 11/16 but all the previous conversations that I had do not reflect that date. I have been given three dates by your office and I guess that is why I feel frustrated. This is not a new request as listed by the recent WO date. I began asking for this early summer when the weeds became crazy tall. We knocked it down with weed wackers and such but it grows crazy fast and we don't have all the needed tools to mow it. I have always respected the City's wishes for us to not put any round up or items like that in it to keep it manageable that is why I have been calling to ask for your help in keeping it cleared.

Here is the timeline given to us by the office:

It will be cleared the 2nd week in July, it will be cleared on October 31st, I will be cleared by the end of November, now in January.

I am sure there are higher priorities and I can and will respect that, and will continue to look forward to when the ditch can be cleared.

Thank you in advance,

Nicole

Ms. Watson,

Thanks for getting back in touch with me on this. I realize it’s a priority for you, and I have not forgetting.

WO#4280 was created on 11/16/18, but due to a persistent backlog of over 50 work orders the promise date for this ditch cleaning kept getting deferred. Therefore, on 12/11/18 I asked our Utility Lead to inspected the ditch to see what we felt the risk of this deferring would be. Based on his knowledge of open ditch storm systems he felt the outfall would flowing well this winter and the cleaning should not be prioritized over other priorities. I now have the ditch cleaning scheduled for January. I’m sending our crew back out to take a quick look, but unless there is active flooding the crew will be focusing on where flooding is actually occurring in town, and the ditch on Lynn Lane will be cleaned in January.

Respectfully,

Andy Peters

Good Morning Andy and Gerald,

I am writing again asking that the ditch please be cleared of all the debris so that the rain can drain. With this rain, it WILL cause flooding on this street and cause unnecessary expenses to these families who live on the lower slope of the road.

Andy, thank you for the work order number of #428, would you please follow up and let me know when this will be scheduled.

Hi Nicole thanks for the email. I have a work order in the hopper now to take a look. I’m not sure how it was missed the first time you called! If you have further questions in the coming weeks you can reference Work Order #4284 next time you speak with someone at City Hall. We’ll try to get out by the end of November. Looks like I’m getting lucky with the dry weather this year!

Subject: Ditch Mowing

Good Afternoon Andy,

I am sorry to keep asking about when the ditch will be mowed on our street. After 19 years of living here I have seen what happens when it is not cleared of the vegetation and it leads to flooding.

I called the office the week of October 22nd and the office gal kindly told me that it was on the schedule for October 31st.

As of today, it has still not been mowed. We really do not want to spray it with any roundup or such since it is not what we want in our water either.

Can you please let me know when it will be rescheduled.

Thank you for understanding,

Nicole Watson
