Thanks Matt. I told them to get the braces off my right of way and internal to the building. They know they have to get approvals from you folks. The company is Cascade NW Construction and they may be requesting an expedite on any permits they may need.

Hi,

I ran analysis for the pipe and anchors for the exterior and interior conditions. For exterior condition I assumed the brace was only in compression and the anchors are only seeing shear forces. For the interior condition I assumed the brace could be in compression or tension and worst case for the anchors is tension and shear. The Simpson Titen HD 5/8”x6” anchors require a minimum embedment of 4.5 inches, and a minimum 6” concrete thickness. For the exterior condition the anchor connection to the sidewalk is 1% over capacity. For the interior condition the anchorage capacity is exceeded by a factor of 2. None of these loads have been factored by omega.

Hi Andy,

This is the building that burned a few weeks ago in Molalla. Can you take a look at the bracing they put up for the front wall and talk after.

Thanks,

-Matt

Hi Matt,

The building across the street from City Hall recently burned and today a contractor set braces on the front of the building without any permits. He stated their intent is to clear out debris on the inside of the structure so that they can set the braces on the inside and then remove the ones on the front of the building. Since this is a building permit related issue, I cant issue a temporary right of way permit without at least having someone from the building side of things look at it and send me something that says the bracing is OK. Can you have someone in your office contact me on Tuesday so we can assist the property owner with protecting the right of way and their structure. I will be in the office all day on Tuesday. Thanks Matt.
