Okay. I’m not planning to get back to this applicant. I’m leaving that for one of you to do, since it is a PW Standards question. I’m still not sure why the tree behind the sidewalk would need to be removed in order to widen the driveway to the east. I also don’t think the applicant intends to build a sidewalk. Just offering my two cents. I had better step out of this now and focus on my deadline

Alice

When they widen the driveway to the east they will be required to bring it into compliance with the PW Standards and TSP the trees behind the curb are in the way of the concrete apron and wings that the future sidewalk will connect to so they must be removed if they are within or will impact the improvements in the public ROW.

Hi,

If they can’t remove the mailboxes or widen their driveway to the west, then I don’t see any justification for removing the tree.

They may still want to remove the tree, but I wouldn’t lead with that in the answer. Yesterday, they said the only reason they want to remove the tree is to widen the driveway to the west, which you are prohibiting.

He can widen his driveway to the east (not west towards the flag lot access and the throat can be up to 24 feet in width. The trees can be removed as long as they follow the Planning requirements. The mailboxes need to remain and the width of the sidewalk behind the mailboxes can be 48” from back of mailbox to back of walk.

Hey Gerald,

The curb cut onto the property looks like it meets the maximum width for a residential drive way of 24’ and the curb cutting would change the entrance from a single family to a multi-family residential development, which would put it over the normal maximum number width and I would have to reach out to the post office on relocating the mail boxes. Please let me know what your thoughts are and let me know if you want me to proceed on the matter or if this is something you want to handle.

Thanks

Sam

Subject: Question from the Counter: for Gerald or Sam re: 819 Toliver

Hi Gerald or Sam:

I covered the counter today during lunch. A customer came in with this question:

At 819 Toliver, can he remove a tree and a group of mailboxes to make his curb cut wider? The problem I see is that he will want to widen the curb cut in a manner that will merge his property’s curb cut with the curb cut of the property to the west. That western property is a flag-lot. The “flag pole/driveway” sits immediately west of 819 Toliver. Here is a picture below. I discussed this with Sam, briefly. He said he may try to research this, Gerald, and talk to you about the answer for the customer. The customer’s name is Randy Thral (971) 404-7309. I told him someone from PW would get back to him on Tuesday or Wednesday.
