Gerald, in de-winterizing the parks for the season we’ve come across two issues. First, the kitchen at Clark Park has a hot water heater that is completely shot. Last year our crews were able to mess with it and get it limping through the dog-show activities, but this year no luck. Oregon Plumbing has given us a quote to repair of $2150 including permits, but I’m guessing you aren’t too keen on spending that in the parks right now. I’m not sure if a hot water heater is required in that kitchen by some kind of health codes. Mabe we can get away without one, or with a simple instahot under the counter ($500ish)

Second, the doors at Fox park are shot (actually at Clark Park too, but if we had to pick one, it’s Fox Park). They won’t latch half the time now due to years of vandalism and patching. We spoke to the folks who do the parks for Salem and Marion County, and they gave us the spec for what they recommend: an 14ga steel powder coated door with a piano key hinger. Kyllos can install these for us, total about $5000 (they can do all four doors at both parks for around $9500). But again, if we are so tight in parks I’m not sure what your feeling is on this either.

We know you are busy but can you let us know your thoughts?

Thanks,

Andy Peters
