Subject: crying uncle on slides

Attachments: 4317_Fox Park Playground.pdf; Gerald, here are my options to replace the tube slide, which is a “4 foot deck”. I cannot find a 4’ deck tube slide to replace it, an open slide is the closest I can find. https://www.aaastateofplay.com/4-feet-double-free-standing-slide/ https://www.aaastateofplay.com/4-feet-right-turn-free-standing-slide/ As for the other one, a 2ft deck slide, it’s so short I can’t find a replacement. If anyone has any ideas, that would be great. Some of the constraints we’re facing: It should be noted that I have no idea how these slides will be mounted, or whether there will be an unforeseen issue with installing them. Or how safe our makeshift mounting approaches will be. I have responses from several companies saying they won’t supply me with certified slide equipment to be mounted on things they didn’t install for this exact reason. To solve this I spoke with our Insurance Agent and he said we are fine to install something ourselves as long as it’s “certified”. As far as I can tell the equipment from this “aaastateofplay” company has those certs, and we’ve received equipment from them in the past that appears to be heavy duty. The other equipment in this park also has big problems. Attached is the report we had done by Cody Spanfellner last year, which I’ve been chewing on (along with the reports on all the other parks). As you can see, we’ve made some progress in the things we can get, like Wood Chips, ect. But none of the equipment’s parts you see in these photos are available for me to buy. Finding replacement shaft collars myself from a hardware store is going to be risky. I have no idea what the engineering parameters of a child’s public park toy might be. Do they need to be hardened? Or is mild steel okay? We’ve talked about using fiberglass bondo and sanding the larger cracks. But this material could easily chip off and cause catch-points and be worse than doing nothing. Another option would be to pressure this company that installed the equipment, “Wildwood”. They are still in business, but they have a bad reputation among the other manufacturers. Wildwood is claiming they don’t support this equipment any more but perhaps some angry pressure would get them to become creative? It may be beyond their control as the phone number for the equipment itself, printed on the plastic, is a Florida company that doesn’t appear to exist anymore. So Wildwood may not be supportive because they are having the same problem with sources that I am. I could use some guidance on how to proceed.
