Importance: Normal

No concerns and that sounds great. I have money in the budget for parks improvements under the capital projects. We just have to install any new equipment in another location before we remove old stuff or the new equipment has to be bigger with more stuff if we want to locate it at the same spot. Thanks.

Subject: Parks Equipment

Gerald, to keep you informed:

We are taking out a few older wooden park structures that clearly don’t meet safety standard, and have permanently boarded up a slide in Fox Park that is cracked and has hurt a child. We’ve ordered up a full safety review of all park equipment, the result will be a list of work needed and estimated costs. I don’t expect there to be too much! But getting organized and documented on it all will certainly help our position. I’m also including an arborist review of the widow makers in the Oak trees in Clark Park.

When we have the reports done we will begin lining out work orders for the things we can handle, and getting the rest in the budget. I’m updating you so you have an answer if people complain about equipment being taken out or boarded up. And also so that you are aware going in to our Load Report review next week. There is plenty of money to do this, we put a chunk in the Parks budget for “Engineering Control Measures” to make the parks safer and reduce staff time required, so all this has been planned long ago. Adam is heading up the safety reviews with CJS Builders, a parks equipment supplier, and I’m handling the Arborist through Westling Tree service.

Just let me know if you have concerns!

Thanks,

Andy Peters
