They want it replaced. We just but a level sensor into it because Dennis said the floats were going bad. Did the same at Molalla Ave LS. After they took the sensor off line and put the floats back in operation it worked. Sounds like a possible install problem by Cherry City but not confirmed yet. Will know more soon if Dennis did what I asked and called Cherry City to investigate their install.

I am aware that this one has been a problem. Have the guys weighed in at all with their thoughts? There is a reason why I ask.

Hi Dan,

Spoke with Dennis this morning and the Shel-mar lift station went down last night and they have been onsite pumping and hauling to the WWTP. PumpTech has been called and they are trying to get a technician to us by late morning or early afternoon. We have had multiple problems with this station since before my time and just spent a combined total of $8,328 in pump repairs and changes from a float system to transducer level sensors. There is also a stormwater connection somewhere in the collection system that is allowing stormwater to run into the lift station. We’ve had Dyer Partnership under PDG look at the station and provide 3 potential costs for varying types of upgrades. The costs for design and construction are as follows:

Self-Priming Pump System $317,800 (Same setup as we currently have where pumps are above ground)

Submersible Pump System $414,400 (Pumps moved into the wet well with controller in same fiberglass structure)

Submersible Pump System with Control Building $491,400 (Pumps moved into the wet well with control building housing everything)

The least cost is the first option and the crews have the most maintenance and call outs on this style of system. The second is preferred for pump and not for controls by the crew. The third is preferred by the crew on all accounts but is the most expensive. This will be revisited in the Wastewater Master Plan update when we look at all of the lift station and list upgrade needs and priority dates for improvements.

I need to talk to you about another issue in a separate email related to staff that will follow this one.
