Will, we just went out to lock the meters as discussed and one of your workers on site told my crew member, Adam Shultz, that your crew was indeed responsible for ripping out our meter with an excavator. Given this new information I’m going to:

  1. 1. Leave the meters locked until I see a signed County Permit for Plumbing.
  2. 2. Release my bill to you for $750. Meters will remain locked until this is paid.
  3. 3. Inform Clackamas County you are working in my jurisdiction with no permits.

If you disagree with any of this you may take it up with the Public Works Director when he returns on July 8th.

Andy,

I figured since it was my own place I did not need a permit to fix the leak. If I need to get one I will get one. I'm on vacation for the next week and can take care of it when I get back.

Will, thanks for this note. We went out to turn the meters on this afternoon but we still have some problems. Apparently one of them is still leaking. Also, do you have a Plumbing Permit from Clackamas County for the work you are doing? I don’t see any permits open with the County. They contract all our plumbing inspections. Given this new information today I’m still uncomfortable with what’s going on out there. Please send me your Plumbing Permit record number for either property so I can validate.

Thanks,

Andy,

It was nice meeting with you yesterday. As we discussed the water meter was leaking at the bottom of the threads. When your repair guys came out I showed it to them. We had the water turned off because it was leaking from there and in the house. The threads broke off when we used a wrench and tried to loosen it. They were badly corroded. After that we did use an excavator to dig up the line. We did call locates prior to any digging. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to call me.

Good Afternoon Will, my name is Andy Peters I’m the Operations Supervisor for the Town. My crew just finished repairing this water service and from the pictures of the broken equipment it looks pretty clear to me that the meter was broken either by an excavator or perhaps something tugging on the old line while removing it. Can you tell me what happened? I have T&M added up for our Freeze-team to come out and repair everything. Looks like the rate-payers are in to this about $720. Let me know if you have any information that can help.

Thanks,

Andy Peters
