Hi Brenda,

We do not supply two meters for duplexes as they are a single building on one property. There was an old practice in the past that allowed for a second meter that was phased out almost two years ago. The property will receive one meter and one sewer service to the property and the property owner has the option of splitting the bill between the two tenants or installing their own sub-meter and allocating the cost out as they see fit. The property owner be the utility contact for this property similar to what is done at an apartment complex.

I have CC’d the others so that they are aware of this should the question come in about a second meter. Also, MMC 13.04.110 Water Service – Connection and Meter Required will be changed soon to reflect this. Thanks and let me know if you have any other questions.

Gerald,

The new owners of the 711 E Main Duplex came in today and asked if they could get a second water meter for the duplex so they can split the bill. What would we charge them to do this? I attached the SDC spreadsheet.
