Yes due to friction loss over that distance of private service line. Probably trying to meet plumbing code requirements also.

Gerald,
At 1221 W Main – they are connecting to our water and sewer system. They paid for a ¾ meter and are running a 1.25” service line from the meter to the house – it’s a super long run maybe 400+ feet. Is it okay to install the larger service line off the ¾” meter?
