I called Mr. Knauff back today. Very reasonable fellow.

One thing he mentioned was that the kids had pulled the storm grate off of the outlet. I went out today and saw that the grate is currently stuck in the concrete box.

Also, Dennis – do you recall if we reached out to the owners of the property when we stopped maintaining this facility? I’m thinking we didn’t. They’re still mowing around the pond but not maintaining the facility itself.

I’m thinking that we should:

- Reach out to the owners to let them know that it’s their responsibility to maintain it.

- But also fix the immediate safety hazard since we do have the easement.

I’ve attached documents regarding the property in question.

It is a detention pond but not one that we own or have an obligation to maintain. We also have utility lines through it. He is correct that the City did maintain it at one point but we went through all the detention ponds that we were maintaining a few years back and stopped cleaning the ones we had no obligation towards.

Hi Dan,

Can you call Mr Knauff back and find out his address and where he it talking about. Will need you to see if the property he is describing is owned by the City or if we have some obligation in the plat for maintenance. If it is a wetland area then it is essentially a no-touch let it be situation. The only thing we can do in those areas is remove garbage. Thanks and let me know what you find out.
