The computer control system should track data that can verify when a pump went down and other information that the computer records, such as the rate at which sewage is coming into the plant and the rate the sewage is going out. This information can be used to do our own calculations. We also review the calculations that the operator, Jason Clifford, did to estimate how much wastewater left the chlorine contact chamber. Jason’s calculations are attached to the 5 day report. David Cole is reviewing those calculations. We will remind the city to update us, as they said that they would, on what they learn about the computer control system and the role it may have played in this release.

Tiffany, I see that a much bigger spill - over 100,000 gallons - was first reported then it was changed to 15,000 gallons. How does DEQ verify what the truth is about how much as really discharged or do you just go by whatever Molalla tells you? Given the things that were admitted in the Ring Bender letter of late August it is hard to trust Molalla's "reports". How do you verify?

We have not yet asked any follow up questions but we expect based on the 5 day report that they will tell us more about the cause of the alarm system failure.
