I note there is a fee for preparing electronic copies and no fee for anything else. Also note that this request is taking longer than the suggested 10 working days.

What kind of method does DEQ provide if the public wants to avoid the electronic preparation fee and simply come to an office to view ALL the requested information? Does DEQ have the capacity for the public to do that on a request like this? For now, as long was we have a fee waiver (for a non-profit, for the public good group where no one gets paid) we accept this $30 fee to be used against a waiver. But since we plan to do regular monthly info sweeps until DEQ brings Molalla into compliance for its ongoing wastewater violations, does DEQ provide any access to files without a fee for document preparation - can we come to a room and view all the requested documents should the fees become too high? What other methods/forms does DEQ provide info with - are printed, mailed copies cheaper than paying for electronic preparation? Is viewing at a DEQ office free? Is there a public access computer site the public could use to view the document - could a DEQ rep simply download what is on his/her computer and put it on a site that a requester could access? These should be questions that DEQ is working on so the public can have FULL AND FREE access to see what the agencies we fund are doing to solve the problems we are concerned about.

Again, please note in advance that Bear Creek Recovery will be making similar requests monthly to follow the progress or lack there of regarding Molalla's wastewater permit problems and infrastructure problems. Perhaps DEQ staff can save time by putting info related to Molalla wastewater permit/infrastructure into an easy to access file?

Per ORS 192.440, for public records requests with an estimated cost of more than $25, DEQ is required to provide the requester with a written notification of the estimated amount of the fee. The requester must then confirm that they want DEQ to proceed with making the records available.
