Subject: Pacific Fibre Molalla - questions about dust control for huge mounds of open air wood particles

Importance: Normal

Dear Nina,

Pacific Fibre moved into the NFA northern part of the Floragon site in the Molalla city limits at 300 Shaver Street (just south of highway 211, Scott's Fertilizer was just to the north before it left town). Below is a link to an article about the last City Council meeting where the noise and dust created by this giant open air log grinding operation were questioned. A resident adjoining the site to the south said in January 2016 to Dan Hafley at our meeting that his rural horse property / residence was being impacted by dust particles from this operation. Since then, huge mountains of ground up logs have been created. We are concerned about how this dust is going to be controlled in the dry months - if this operation intends to use water it is going to take huge amounts to control dust. My earlier email to Dan asks about what part of the "south" site is going to be used for the expansion noted in the article link, since last we knew there was not a NFA for most of the south part of Floragon. Please have the proper air quality inspector look at the situation and please forward the name and contact info for the person at DEQ so people can file complaints if necessary. This operation makes Scott's Fertilizer look like a drop in the bucket.

We would like to know what kind of DEQ rules govern such an operation in the middle of a city, very near a residential city neighborhood and rural residences.
