I just re-listened to the message and it is still choppy but the very important difference is that the OHA person said Molalla reported an illness outbreak and is testing for chyrptosporidium. So there is probably sampling but not results yet.

Hi

I just heard back from OHA via phone. The connection is bad so I could not clearly hear the staff person's name-- when I am back in the office I can share that.

But from their phone message, they acknowledged that the City of Molalla drinking water staff had reported to OHA that they had a chyrptosporidium outbreak and that action is being taken to address it.

Again I will follow-up tomorrow after speaking to OHA.

Tiffany

Thanks for making us aware Susan, and Tiffany, for forwarding it on to our OHA reps.

Hi Susan

The Oregon Health Authority's Drinking Water Divisionis the regulatory oversight for all drinking water systems. I will see that our colleagues there know about this event.

I am in Bend at the moment but will forward your message to OHA and follow up.

Tiffany

Subject: Drinking water in Molalla - what part of DEQ is the oversight?

Hi Tiffany,

I found this post on Molalla Now this morning. What part of DEQ is oversight for drinking water issues for the City of Molalla? I hope DEQ will look into this. The woman said they use City of Molalla water:

Amy Scott<https://www.facebook.com/amy.scott.9212?fref=nf>

20 hrs<https://www.facebook.com/groups/Molallanow/permalink/1674234292592909/>

**Edited to clarify what my son has is NOT a virus but seemed like that at first.** I know of 3 families including ours in Molalla that has contracted with a TERRIBLE sickness that has all the symptoms of the flu, but for poor immune systems could be very serious.

*My 4 year old son is the only one so far that has had this official diagnosis* but he has been hospitalized for 3 days now in Silverton and tests just came back saying he has "Cryptosporidium" with water being the most common way it spreads. This is NOT a virus after all. Has anyone else been extremely sick around here???

The City of Molalla was here within an hour of my calling them and is already taking samples of our water. They're being SO helpful - They've been the most competent professionals I've dealt with in 3 days."

Has Molalla reported this to DEQ? If not please consider this a report to DEQ to look into what is happening here.

Susan
