Dear Dan,

Thanks for your work to provide detailed information at the Wed. hearing. We appreciate it very much.

To follow up, we are eager to get the map with the yellow, green and blue dots on it with the contamination chart. Do you have information we can get that has any discussion about the "yellow" area - the area proposed for the asphalt cap? Are there documents between DEQ and the owners on that subject of how to designate that area - if there are please forward them or tell me the best way to describe them so we can make a concise public information request. We are interested in understanding in depth why that area was excluded from the mitigation area since it clearly has enough contamination to be of concern.

Also, I thought from past meetings that wells near the mill had been tested and was shocked to learn that the Falk's 20 foot deep well right next to where Bear Creek exists the mill has not been tested. That land is very low lying and prone to flooding - I have graphic pictures. I would certainly expect that that well at the least should have been tested. The excuse that it costs $1,000 is a drop in the bucket since we note that two lawyers and an environmental consultant who attended the hearing would have been costly for the mill owner. What is the reason for not testing that shallow well?

Please send the air quality complaint contacts to me as well as to Mr. Falk. Are you the one to address about concerns about what the wood grinding operation may be doing to Bear Creek water quality? If you are not, please let us know what DEQ rep would address potential issues about dust, debris and pollution that seems to be coming from the fiber grinding operation and is degrading the air and water of Bear Creek. I have another down stream resident on the Forest Road who has written about air quality, oil and debris in the creek from the fiber grinding operation. She was not able to attend the hearing but I expect she will want to file complaints and make comments about the "no further action" proposal.

Thanks again for your time.

Sincerely,

Susan Hansen
