Dear Nina,

Over a year ago, several of us bitterly opposed DEQ's granting Interfor a permit to be a MAJOR AIR POLLUTER. DEQ went right ahead and granted the permit. I note that with the huge problems in PDX Dick Peterson is discussing revisiting air pollution. Please let me know how we can formally file with DEQ to see what kind of air pollution/soil contamination has been going on via the mills, esp. Interfor. We feel like we deserve to have the areas downwind from that mill tested. Those places have residents and areas that raise crops and animals for human consumption. I am sorry to say the mess in PDX confirms the concerns we have had about the failure of DEQ to vigorously enforce environmental rules.
