Subject: What Molalla's Mayor elect tells the Molalla citizens about the violation in progress

Importance: Normal

Dear DEQ officials,

Here's what mayor elect Jimmy Thompson (who is currently a city councilor and was present when Tiffany and Nina visited city council last month) is using as an excuse on the Molalla Now FB page where a photo was posted of the sign that alerts people to the current illegal discharge, as required by our lawsuit: (quote)

"Jimmy Thompson You all know how hard Oregon is on environmental issues. Molalla produces Class A effluent, the highest class that there is. DEQ lists permitable uses including things like watering play areas for kids at schools, just so long as a sign is posted.

The city can't presently discharge onto Coleman's ranch because of ponding. The restriction dates for discharge into the river is primarily because of lower river flows during that time frame. In this case, the river is flowing quite well. In fact, it was the excessive rain fall that put the city into this situation." (end quote)

Please not that Councilor Thompson says nothing to his citizens about the fact that there is not enough capacity in the lagoons and that is the reason for the early discharge into the river which Tiffany told me will be a violation.
