Subject: Appreciate the hard work

Gerald,

Because of this pandemic, I find my days have been full of nothing but Zoom meetings with EOC’s, Chief’s, and Health Authorities. Almost daily, I am getting mandates and protocol changes from OSP, OACP, IACP, DPSST and countless other entities that directly effect the way a police department operates. This has caused me to put out numerous directives on everything from the personal safety of our officers, decon strategies, equipment use, and changes to how particular calls are handled. Like many other Chief’s going through this with their own departments, I have never experienced anything like this continual fluid-change that seems to only disrupt the work I manage to get completed only to turn around by the next morning to change what has been accomplished the previous day.

I am telling you all of this because I want you to know that I am very thankful for not only the close team I work with here at the PD daily, but for the team I have on the Public Works side. It seems that through all of this, we have experienced a number of maintenance issues and some needs generated by policy and procedural changes here at the PD. I want you to know that when these issues and needs have crept up, Andy has been all over it almost immediately. Andy is one of the most take-charge and get it done individuals I have ever met. His crew does a fantastic job and the work product has been phenomenal. Andy is also the first PW administrator that I have ever worked with (and I have worked for three municipalities and the county) that checks back with me to see if I was happy with the work performed. It’s because of his tenacity, I have not had to worry about these matters and my focus can remain on the continual changes brought to my department daily and sometimes hourly.

With this mania caused by the pandemic, I know that you and your folks have a lot on your plates right now like we do. It is important that I let you know how thankful I am and that you all know how valuable Andy and his crew are to not only our community, but my department as well.

Thanks for the hard work you all do everyday so that we can do ours!

Chief
