Frank,

We are doing a little ammonia sleuthing to figure out why we have such high ammonia readings and have narrowed it down to a section along Lola. Are you aware of the use of ammonia in manufacturing of any nasty drugs??

Amazing. It’s one of the houses circled in Purple. 131mg/L at 2nd @ Lola, but only 60.8mg/L at 2nd@Eckard. I’m trying to see if Cody can do more today. Truth is always weirder than our best educated guess… Andy

Andy,

My sample results are in. I sampled from manhole TLA-22 which is located off of Lola and 2nd. I also sampled from manhole TLA-21 which is located off of 2nd and Echerd.

TLA-22 = 131.0 @0730

TLA-21 = 60.8 @0735

Thanks,

Cody

Jamie, there are only a few places this slug could be coming from. The area is circled below. It could also be the laundrymat. I would like you to make it top priority to find it now! Someone in this area is discharging a hot slug of ammonia almost continuously. Let’s find it! What can I do to help? If I need to come in the field with you I can. Great job!

Great question! Do they have a lateral? You can probably check the GIS map, link on the MolallaOps page. You could also test Upstream and Downstream of that business. Another idea is to pull a sample out of the creek that runs underground out there (under Fenton, Grange) and see if the ambient groundwater being taken on by I/I has ammonia. I can't imagine it does, but it would be another great scientific observation. That stuff make logic easy later on in analysis.

Andy

Is there a way to get a sample directly from the laundry mat?

These are some great pictures of you guys! Based on your results today, I'm going to guess it's the Laundry Mat East of Grange Street that is causing this ammonia. But technically the troubleshooting is pointing to anywhere in the TL_A basin. What's our next step?
