All,

I want to thank all of you for the effort you put forward during Buckeroo. Every year the parade and 5k numbers seem to increase and we continue to adapt. The outside help we received this year was amazing. Having a larger LE presence, not only showed in the quality of the task at hand but had a very positive impact on our community. At coffee this morning I was contacted by multiple citizens who commented on how great the LE presence was and how smoothly they felt our parade went. Our City Manager made a comment to me about how most don’t even comprehend how much work and organization goes into an event like this. This is very true and when a citizen asks and I explain, they are literally dumfounded. I have also received some very nice comments from the outside LE that helped out. It is a great feeling as a Chief to hear comments from those in our profession about, not only how organized we were for this event, but how fun it was to work with such a great bunch of officers here at Molalla PD and how great this community is.

I also want to say, with the other cities I have worked with, I have never seen such a great relationship as the one we have with our Molalla Public Works Department. Molalla PW is well run, and these folks all work their tails off. When an LE agency and PW have a close working relationship such as this, the ability to complete any community projects is strong.

We will be having a Buckeroo and 4th of July debrief in two weeks. If you have any ideas on what we can do better, what went well, concerns, anything, please let Sergeant Call, Lieutenant Long, or I know so we can get it on the list of topics to talk about.

For the future, I certainly don’t see the 5k and Giant Parade getting any smaller. It is my focus to continue to illicit the help we need to continue to do the great work you all have done year after year.

(I will share the numbers for this years 5k and Giant Parade when I get them. It should be interesting).

Thank for all you do!

Chief
