Dan and Aldo,
Sorry but it is poor form for commissioners to email in on the date of the meeting saying they won’t be able to make the meeting. This affects our ability to do the following:
· have a quorum; and
· meet our 120 timeline for developments; and
· sends a message to the community that the meeting is not important enough to coordinate in advance; and
· costs the City money when we have project consultants coming in from out of town.
I know it’s hard to get volunteers but volunteering for a City commission seat is not a small thing and we need individuals who are committed to the work to sit in those chairs. I would like the Planning Commission Chair or Mayor to set rules, if ones do not currently exist, that commissioners must provide absence request no less than the prior monthly meeting before being excused from a scheduled public meeting. We can’t keep doing this.
I will need to contact our consultants and let them know we are in a holding pattern until I can confirm that we have enough commissioners ready to do City business tonight. Thank you.
