Subject: Clackamas County's Response to Coronavirus

Monday March 2, 2020 our Board of County Commissioners approved an emergency declaration that focuses on Clackamas County’s ability to manage financial resources, and will enable us to seek additional resources from the state. This measure is precautionary, and was performed so that Clackamas County can be as prepared as possible to address the potential of future coronavirus (COVID-19) incidents.

I want to emphasize that this is not a public health emergency.

Public health situations are unique. We must be ready to quickly deploy additional resources as needed, given the situation.

I’ve attached a copy of the declaration. It will last for two weeks. At that time, we will revisit it to determine next steps.

Finally, it’s important that the public receives guidance for possible infection information, prevention information, and other critical information only from credible health sources.
