Subject: VRF passed
As you may know by now, the Board of County Commissioners passed a new countywide vehicle registration fee of $30/year. Although it can be referred within 90 days, the County is proceeding as though it will be going into effect.
I met with most of you last summer asking what you thought you would do with the VRF funds that your city would receive. I heard the following:
I either didn’t meet with the rest of you, or I lost track of what you told me (Tualatin, Portland).
These were unofficial, on the spot answers, and probably hadn’t been vetted by your cities. My request now is if you can take another look and:
Our intent in asking for this information is to start publicizing it to let the public know what we intend to do. The County has publicly stated that our share will go to local road paving (from PMS), safety projects (from our TSAP), and congestion relief projects (from our TSP). We would like to help spread the word on what you all intend to do as well.
Please let me know if you have any questions. The sooner we get this information from you, the better chance we can educate the public about what they will be receiving.
Thanks,
