Good morning Dan: While I'm sorry you , Gerald and Alice had to experience that. you handled the situation in a firm and professional manner, as I knew you would. There are still People that still believe we should be doing things the way they did in the 1950s, before the great space race. This is why the council is lucky to have you and the great staff that you have put together. Thank You!

Keith – Thought I would let you know that we had the Food Cart meeting yesterday and it did not go well. Deanna Portis and her mother Joanne Everhart were extremely disrespectful, rude and argumentative. Jimmy was fine, however. When Joanne Everhart crossed the line with her personal attacks on Gerald and Alice I ended the meeting and asked everyone to leave. At that point Gerald, Alice and I needed to decompress and we began discussing what we do with members of the public who are on the edge of being violent. At that point Deanna Portis came back into City Hall and I went down to speak with her. She apologized for her mothers behavior (should have apologized for her own). I told her that if she cannot be civil and have a civil conversation there is no purpose to going forward because I will end things again. Alice came back down and she and Deanna were able to talk and we should move forward with the pathway discussion we have been trying to discuss with her.

Not that it matters, but Jimmy did agree that they should have been asked to leave and I think he talked to Ms. Portis after the meeting and was able to get her to understand some things. These people do not represent Molalla. They are in a very small minority in my opinion. It still amazes me that there are people out there who are willing to act the way those two did yesterday.
