They won't.

They were also mistaken about what we said we would pass and fix later... that part was specifically the transparency requirements, which the planning commission is looking into, and the reason we wanted to do that later was because we wanted to put some thought into the exceptions--like possibly allowing for art approved by the pc or arts commission in lieu of a portion of the windows. Also, home occupation requirements were significantly reduced, i.e. it used to be you could only have one customer per hour, and could overlap by a half hour. It made a martial arts class in a garage with a handful of students impossible. New code removed that.

I will put together a formal response to the chamber over the weekend, and vet it with you, Dan, Liz, and Leota next week before sending it to the chamber and the newspaper. I will personally send it, under my name, so there can be seperation between the city and my response if needed. Look for it Monday.

Subject: The code

OK. Last night I was not happy with the Chamber and their comments so I looked it up in the code this morning and they lied. A grocery store (Commercial Retail Sales and Services) is PERMITTED OUTRIGHT in the C-1 and C-2 zone. See Table 17-2.2.030 Uses Allowed by Zoning District in section 17-2.2.030. They lied no if ands or buts. So, they need to come into the next Council meeting and publicly state that they were not correct at the September 13 meeting. Anything less would be unacceptable is deliberately deceiving the community and their members. Its worth breaking a pick over this with them.
