All,

A lot has happened over the past year here in Public Works and I wanted to
share some of the changes that have happened since last summer. We have
new staff members who have joined the Public Works team. Christie
DeSantis, who has managed to keep Dan and I out of trouble, has had her
hands full taking on the website update, keeping it current, and helping
departments at City Hall do some long overdue housekeeping and records
management. We were able to recruit her away from another agency and are
lucky to have her. Another big find was Andy Peters our new Operations
Supervisor. Andy brings a wealth of knowledge in facilities management,
asset management, and efficiency in work flow. He has been an instrumental
part of the team that turned the Wastewater Treatment Plant around and has
helped in all of the plan updates that will get us in compliance with DEQ.

We also want to welcome Jamie Joost and Cody Foxworthy as our two new
Utility Worker 1 staff members. Jamie had the huge grin while driving the
City vehicle in the 4th of July parade. Cody comes to us from another
agency and folks have been enjoying his enthusiasm in his new career in
Public Works. Another recent addition to the Wastewater Treatment Plant
team is James Clifton. James has been a long time seasonal employee who
filled an operator vacancy that occurred in 2017. His persistence has paid
off and he has been a good addition to the Wastewater Treatment Plant
team. We have also added Jaimee Searcy as our new Quality
Assurance/Quality Control Analyst. Jaimee is responsible for water quality
testing at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Her work will also will expand
into drinking water and stormwater testing and the addition of a certified
lab to the City. Lots of great stuff going on in Public Works as the City
grows.

We want to congratulate Jake Ehredt who recently passed his Grade 3
Wastewater Treatment certification. Jake has been promoted to the
Wastewater Plant Operator Lead position and has been the interim lead for
the past two months while he studied for his Grade 3 certification. Feel
free to congratulate Jake when you bump into him. He has done a terrific
job taking over the plant and whipping it into shape. Jake, James, Jaimee,
and Andy have been the team that fixed all of the problems at the
Wastewater Treatment Plant and continue to build relationships with DEQ
and our partners at the irrigation sites. Well done to you all and more
good things to come when DEQ approves our Recycled Water Use Plan,
Wastewater Facility and Collection System Master Plan, and the permit
modification for the treatment plant.

In Parks we have added a seasonal employee by the name of Andrew Haynes.
Andrew is a local resident who grew up in Molalla and is excited about
being a part of making the community a great place to live.

All of our Public Works staff have done a terrific job in improving the
community and providing a safe and well maintained systems that residents
and business owners can enjoy. I feel fortunate to be a part of a great
team and look forward to all that we will accomplish in the future. Thanks
and have a great summer.
