The first storm is expected to begin around 2 pm and run midnight on Thursday, October 13th. The second storm, expected to be the stronger of the two storms, is expected to begin around 11 am and go through 11 pm on Saturday, October 15th. Impacts from both storms are: · Wind: downed trees, broken limbs, power outages possible · Rain: localized flooding, plugged culverts/drains · Seas: dangerous boating conditions, high tides, possible coastal flooding on Saturday (waves could reach 25 feet or higher) The precipitation from Wednesday night through Thursday night is expected to be 1.2 to 2 inches in most of Clackamas, with some heavier rainfall in the Cascades. The rainfall for Saturday is expected to be heavy, and is expected to be up to 1 inch in Clackamas County with heavy winds. However, both storms have a couple of scenarios that can play out depending on a low pressure tracks and if it is closer or further away from the coast. In either scenario we will get a lot of rain in a short period of time. It was noted on the NWS call that the storms are expected to be significant on Thursday and Saturday, but we must also be aware that Friday and Sunday are expected to be very wet and adding to the mix. I have attached the slides from the NWS briefing. Please go to www.weather.gov/portland for details as the storms progress. If things change drastically I will let you know. Please let me know if you have questions. Stay Safe and Dry, Cathy Phelps Duty Officer Chief Deputy Medical Examiner Clackamas County 13309 SE 84th Avenue Suite 100 Clackamas, Oregon 97015
