Hello Mr. Hein,
Thank you for your email. We have posted Traffic Change Ahead signs in accordance with MUTCD requirements. We will look at the potential of adding the stop bars as part of the striping revision for left turn pockets in the north south direction which will be installed over the next few weeks. We are holding a preconstruction meeting with the contractor on Monday and will issue a notice to proceed to do the work. Parking within the limits for the turn pockets will be removed and will increase visibility of the stop signs. This project is listed as a high priority project in the Transportation Master Plan and funding for construction of the project was approved in this year's budget. All work will be completed over the next few months.
Regards,
Gerald Fisher, P.E. | Public Works Director

Question/Comment: Comment: Recently the City established a four way stop on S. Molalla Ave. and 5th Street, why I am not sure. The standard stop sign and the short stop signs are making awareness for motorists, however one key item is missing. Stop LINES and the lines need to be painted on north and south lanes of S. Molalla Ave at the crosswalks. Stop lines trigger eye attention to motorists approaching a stop sign. This is particularly important once the short stop signs are removed. Another item of concern are the sidewalk TREES on the northbound east curb as you are approaching the stop sign at 5th Street. Although the trees have been trimmed and look nice they still block your vision when approaching view of the stop sign until you are there. I believe in compliance and more so in voluntary/willful compliance of motorists. Prevention and planning to assure public safety are on the shoulders of the City. I hope this is given respectful consideration. Thank You
