Hi Nicole,

The City of Molalla does not have jurisdiction over the Mulino area and that falls under Mulino and Clackamas County jurisdiction so you will have to check with them. As far as the City of Molalla goes, no signs are allowed in the public right of way per our municipal code. If you place signs on private property you have to have the property owners permission and comply with the sign code which may require a sign permit. I don’t cover that section of the code and you will have to contact the Community Planner at communityplanner@cityofmolalla.com to inquire about the sign ordinance requirements. Please make sure your workers setting up the signs understand that any sign found in the right of way, posted to a traffic control sign, or posted to a utility pole is a code violation that can total up to $1,000 per day per offense. As long as you comply with the code, take out any necessary permits with Planning and have the property owners consent then you will be covered. Hope this information helps.

Subject: Garrette custom Home Signage

Hello,

My name is Nichole Fogarty and I am a marketing manager for a directional sign placement company that works for Garrette Custom Homes. Garrette is building homes in Mulino, Oregon called Hamlet Heights. Typically what our company does is place small directional arrows that we place on wooden stakes. We place these stakes out of the right of way. These arrows help guide people to the new homes in areas that it may be hard to find. We have been placing these signs in Mulino and have noticed a lot missing. The agent at Hamlet Heights which is the community that Garrette is building said that the community sign that is in front of the Hamlet Height development has been knocked over along with the flags they have up. First I would like to say I want to work with the city and try my hardest to conform to what the city would like for us to do. Is it ok that we place 30 arrow signs to guide clients to the homes in your community. These signs are not large and they do not impair the vision of the roadway. Also, is the Home builder not allowed to have a community sign up? The agent had said there is another home builder in the same location as Garrette and their sign is up. I am writing you because I do not want to make the city upset. Our goal is to bring more clients to get these homes sold in your beautiful community. Please let me know what we are allowed to do in your city. They are nice, clean and presentable signs that are just placed on the side of the road. We check every week to make sure these signs look presentable. We can also place Friday night after 7 and pick up sunday night after 6 so they are only up for a 48 hour period instead of during the week. As far as the community sign can they have this up? Thank you in advance for you help! Again, we want to make everyone happy and do not want to be of any trouble!

Thank You,

Nichole Fogarty
