Hi Donna,

I’ve had a chance to look into the roadway widths next to your business. Ross is an unusual street because most streets are 50 to 60 feet in width but Ross is only 40 feet. Once we remove the areas for sidewalk and curb it only leaves about 28-29 feet. The approved travel lane width in the downtown area is 12 feet so two lanes totals 24 feet leaving only 4 to 5 feet of extra space. The minimum width allowed for parking in downtown is 7 feet. Because there is not enough space on Ross Street we are unable to create a loading/unloading zone on Ross. Sorry that the site constraints are limiting to your business but we have to keep the roadway safe for everyone using them. Additionally, with the location of the transit stop on Ross next to the public parking lot, it is even more important to maintain adequate maneuvering widths.
