Good afternoon Mr. Bancke, thank you for letting us know what's going on.

The City has not added rock to 3rd St this year, and I do not have a public works permit pulled by anyone authorizing work in the Right of Way. Do you know who added gravel to the public street? If so I can give them a call and find out what's happening and talk to them about any stormwater issues their work may have caused.

As to your request for a plan: I'm sending a Utility Crew member out to look in the coming days. If there is something we can do with a backhoe bucket we'll get it on our list. As for longer-term fixes, unfortunately there isn't much we can do just now. 3rd St is part gravel and part asphalt so it can't be graded without first being rubberized. 3rd Street is on the list of streets that need reconstruction in town, but an initiative to institute a street utility maintenance fee to fund those reconstructions last year was rejected by voters. I only have enough money to do minor dig-out repairs on arterial and collector streets: I'll be doing Center and Kennel at HWY 211 within the next few weeks, and then we are done for the year.

Feel free to contact me if you have further questions?

Respectfully,

Andy Peters

Department: Street

Nature of Concern:

3rd St between Lola and Eckert

Gravel was added to the street approximately 1.5 weeks ago and it has made the ponding water in the center of the roadway problem worse. Several of the reoccurring problem potholes were not fixed when the gravel was added to the roadway. There is a fairly consistent row of potholes beginning to form where the edge of the additional gravel was put in due to the ponding water in the roadway. I'm not sure if there's a way to get it graded towards the storm drain so that it will drain properly. It would be wonderful if someone could come look at it and come up with a plan to get the water off the roadway.

There are also three fairly large reoccurring potholes where the asphalt terminates and the gravel begins that need to be addressed again.

Thank you
