Hi Jason,
We have significant improvement needs our existing park system and barely enough staff to maintain at the current level. If we look at expanding the park system then we will also have to look at expanding our staff, budget, and source of revenue to support it. You are then going to have to start talking about a parks fee like what Silverton and cities have gone to in order to increase the level of service. The General Fund cannot support additional levels of Park service and we just got the City back into reasonable financial status from overspending in past. With the failure of the street maintenance utility fee earlier this month, you are not likely to get the community to buy into funding additional parks when they won’t fund maintenance on the streets. Probably not a topic you want to bring up with the Council or community right now.

We could do a walking path and do a lot if we annexed it into city. Also there are lots of grants out there to help build a complex park.
