Hi Jeny,

Molalla Forest Road from Main Street (Hwy 211) to Mathias Road is owned and operated by the City of Molalla. I don’t have a speed order handy for this section of roadway. Is there an issue with the posted speed limit on that road? You can correspond with me going forward and Joe and Craig do not need to be included.

Joe and Craig – Thanks guys. We will take it from here.

Hi Jeny,

I believe the portion of Molalla Forest Road you’re referring to is under private ownership based on our road map which identifies road ownership. In that case, we don’t control or regulate what is installed. Any signing is not enforceable either.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Be safe.

Joseph Marek

Hello, Ms. Powell. I have only one speed zone order on Molalla Forest Road (for 35 MPH) between Glen Avon Bridge and Table Rock Wilderness – one written under the federal Bureau of Land Management authority. Any other speed signing (assuming it is legally installed by the appropriate jurisdictional road authority) would be legal if it complies with Oregon’s Statutory Speed laws. I would agree with the County that you check with the local jurisdiction, presuming that is the City of Molalla. If you have further questions, please let me know.

Subject: Molalla Forest Rd Speed Limit

Hello,

I'm trying to find out if the speed limit sign posted on Molalla Forest Rd at Molalla Ave (25MPH) is legally established speed. It is a short stretch of the road that is a dead end after approximately 1,000 ft. The county is telling me this is not a legally established speed and that the sign was likely put up by a neighbor, not by the county. They suggested that I could check with the City to determine if perhaps the City of Molalla had installed the sign legally, which I have asked and am awaiting an answer. Is this something you could tell me?

Thank you for your time,

Jeny
