Hi Tara,
Thank you very much for asking in advance. Lots of people don’t and we appreciate it when folks do to make sure what they are doing on public property is OK.
We don’t allow these to be used on City property that Public Works is responsible for maintaining. The reason being is that metal detection regularly involves digging up things which in turns damages the turf and landscaped areas that we try very hard to maintain and keep nice for the community.
Regards,
Gerald Fisher, P.E. | Public Works Director

Good morning!
The Mayor suggested I get in contact with you. I was wondering, do I need written permission from the city to use a metal detector in local parks or am I able to do it without any requirements?
Thanks so much,
Tara
