Subject: Shaver St/Main St Safety Issue

Importance: Normal

Good afternoon!

First off, I have to give a big thank you for the work on Shaver St. My home is on the corner of Shaver and W Main, and this is very much appreciated. I think it will not only make truck traffic much quieter, but also improve some drainage issues that were created with the deterioration of the road surface.

While I was gone over most of the weekend, I did notice when we got home yesterday that cones had been removed, but there is still a large trip hazard on either side of Shaver at that intersection. I noticed most people walking by are walking into the roadway to avoid the holes/crack between the new and old surfaces. There is a pathway to go by our fence and around the areas of concern, but nobody is taking it. In the meantime, I think it would be prudent to put some pedestrian safety measures in place to prevent an injury. I just witnessed someone trip and almost fall this afternoon, and another person with a large stroller and children walk out into the roadway to get around. Luckily traffic was slow and stopped so that she could pass through.

I will be going out today to trim the bushes on our corner before spraying and knocking down the grass next week on the side lawn on Shaver (on a side note, a neighbor has been taking her dog to poop out there and it has been impossible to mow with the amount of poop there, so sorry for the delay in mowing). I hope that it helps people get through safely.
