I agree.
They need to know that getting a cola would be a pretty big deal. Not many Cities can even manage that. In the future years we can do a min/max cola. Maybe We could offer a higher life insurance now like 1.5x annual wage if we need something more as well as the pers sick at retirement (T1 & 2 only though). Gives them a big value for not that much cost to the city.
Most unions do want to eat their young. I think our guys are more understanding and appreciative.

I am thinking that maybe we make a firm statement to Teamsters regarding there will be no discussions regarding compensation other than COLA’s that we are providing to non-represented employees. We literally do not know what our revenue will morph into and I do not think our Teamster group wants to eat their young. Other than language changes in the contract we will not increase or entertain increase compensation, holidays, overtime, etc.
What do the two of you think?
