Gerald I would replace all of 24.3 with the following paragraph. This text enshrines what we do right now, with the addition of a few tweeks to make it clearer – no reimbursements for employees, for example. The rain/muck boot is not an addition: We already buy the rain/muck boots as “PPE” under 24.2, but that’s not clear because 24.2 explicitly excludes “footwear”. I’ve been interpreting the “rain/muck boots” to be “rain gear” and not “footwear”. But this text cleans up those definitions. I’m confident the employees will have no trouble with this language.
24.3 Footwear: The City shall pay up to $200 annually for the purchase of Steel-Toed boots for each full-time employee, and up to $150 for the purchase of a pair of rain/muck boots. Boots are for work use only. Boots shall be purchased using an approved City Purchase Order and purchase from a vendor with which the City has a credit account. Boots that exceed these mounts may be purchased if agreed to by the City, and Employee will reimburse the City the difference within 1 month. No cash reimbursements to employees shall be made in any case.
Respectfully,
Andy Peters
