Attachments: image001.jpg; Folks, making you aware of a tiny issue: we have all this solved, but anything that affects payroll could eventually end up coming up in a future bargaining meeting or something. So we usually maintain a policy of forwarding these situations to management as an FYI. The Mass Mutual contributions didn’t make into employee accounts in April. Cindy figured it out, and corrected it immediately. We explained the situation to the crew below. What happens is: each month, because of the OT and “separate checks” your contributions are different. So Payroll actually manually calculates your contributions on a spreadsheet. Then transfers the spreadsheet to text file that meets the “electronic data interface” requirements of the Mass Mutual bank. That’s called “EDI”. When you upload an EDI to a bank, they run it through a bunch of validation logic, and if something isn’t right, they send an exception report back to the business (in this case, us). But if you don’t get the exception report because the email the bank had on file is a former accountant (Heather) then you don’t realize your EDI didn’t get accepted by the bank… and therefore everyone’s mass mutual contributions don’t happen. So they are all squared away which is good, and Cindy is looking in to the best way to handle the monthly EDI upload to ensure no mistakes. She’s on it! Let me know if you have any further concerns. What happened was there was an error on the report and the notification that there was an error was not sent to my e-mail but to Heather’s. I have updated their records and I will not see those notifications should there be anymore. I reposted the errors on Thursday and I received the conformation yesterday. I would suspect that you will see the deposit by today or Monday. If you do not, please let me know and I will call them again. I’m sorry that this happened but, I have made the corrections with myself as a contact and there should not be an issue again moving forward. I apologize for the inconvenience but know that I have made all the steps to ensure a smooth transition with reporting in the future. The contribution was taken from my pay check but does not reflect deposit in my Mass Mutual account. I have talked with the rest of the public works crew and they have noticed the same problem. The April 15 2019 contribution has reflected in everyone’s Mass Mutual account this pay period.
