It does but we have no money, time or bandwidth to do this. Free money isn’t so free. Go ahead and forward to me as an FYI. Will look at it when it works for us on this end. Thanks!

Subject: Oregon Parks & Recreation Dept. grant opportunity and grant advisory committee recruitment

Greetings!

Grant Opportunity

The Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant Program – 2020 Grant Cycle will begin accepting applications February 24 through April 13.

Please see the attached announcement for full details.

Grant Advisory Committee

The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department has one open position on the Oregon Outdoor Recreation Committee (OORC). This is a grant advisory committee for the Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant Program. The nine-member committee is appointed by the Director to review and prioritize grant proposals for the public outdoor recreation areas and facilities funded by the Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant Program.

We are seeking an individual to fill the position representing Cities under 15,000 population. This position may be filled by either a current recreation professional or a private citizen. The ideal candidate should have a background in recreation. An understanding of the concepts of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in recreation is a desired attribute of the candidate. Committee members serve noncurrent four-year terms.

If you have nominees, or if you know of someone that might be interested in the position, please provide me with their contact information or have them contact me and I will provide an interest form and an informational sheet on the position. Please submit nominations to me by March 20, 2020.

Committee Meeting Dates:

The committee meets annually and at other times upon the call of the Director. The next OORC meeting will be in Salem, May 2020, to evaluate and rank grant applications. Typically, the OORC has mostly had single-day meetings. Due to the increase in funding for this cycle, we are tentatively planning on a 1 ½ - 2 day committee meeting, but we will have a better idea of the amount of time needed by mid-late April.

If you have any questions about the committee or grant program, please contact me.

Sincerely,

image
