Subject: Post Fire long term FEMA resources

Hi all –

Last week I met with FEMA community planners, the purpose of the meeting was for FEMA/EPA to let me know what resources they can provide communities effected by wildfires in 2020. They have access to a lot of different funding sources for communities and unincorporated Clackamas County. Their resources are not clear. From the discussion it became apparent that they wanted to provide resources but are not sure where or exactly how at the community development level.

I suggested that I reach out to the planners of effected communities and ask for a list of 5 projects from each community. The projects can range from parks planning, existing parks redesigned, trail program on public lands (such as a river trail system), defensible space code/program, build back better codes (urban wildfire interface areas) economic development and public facilities.

Resources FEMA has available:

Brown Fields Program

Green Streets

State Revolving Fund

Community Development Block Grant Funding

Treat this like a brain storming session, I am looking to create a list of 5 projects for each community. The projects do not need to be detailed, we can work on that later. It would be great to have a list from each community/county by the beginning of the year. The FEMA group will be presenting at the Metro Wildfire Economic Recovery Team Meeting in January and I would like to provide them with this prior to the meeting on the 6 Jan 2021. I will be out for the next 2 weeks, but still checking my emails.

Thank you! Happy Holidays

Cheers,

jennifer
