Yes, they are required to be connected to the sewer system if they are in the city limits and are within 100 feet of a sewer main.

Subject: Building - Connection to Sewer

Hello,

I have a question. Does an operating business need to be connected to public sewer? This building below addressed 535 W Main St. is currently only connected to water. Attached is the Business License and Sewer and Water app. We did locate two water meters behind the building and from my understanding one of those meters connects to the building.

The previous business operating out of this building was B&I construction and the parcel is zone Light Industrial. I did some researched of the Municipal Code and found this language below.

So – if you could please respond with a comment that would be very helpful! Thanks!
