Hi Dan,
I’m finally getting back with some licensing information. We have a special offer in place at the moment that will really help you out price-wise. You can bring your older ArcGIS Desktop Standard license current by paying for a single year of maintenance, which is $1,500. The difference will be that the updated license will be a single use license, not a concurrent use license. We are moving towards a phase-out of concurrent use licensing. The Spatial Analyst extension is $2,500. Annual maintenance for the extension is $500. So looking forward, annual maintenance for Desktop Standard plus the extension will be $2,000.

Hi Dan
It looks like you have derivative products (DEM & Hillshade) from a LiDAR source.
That being the case, the Spatial Analyst extension is what you would use for deriving contours from the DEM.
How about we schedule a time later this week and I can stop by with my laptop and we could run some experiments on your data ? That way we could evaluate some different workflows on how to get what you need from the data.
I’m busy Tuesday and Wednesday but I’m free after 9:30 AM on Thursday and on Friday until noon.

To help me determine what your best/lowest cost solutions are, can you tell me if your Lidar that you are getting is an already classified *.las format or is it delivered in a derivative raster (elevation, slope,etc) format ?

Heather – thank you for the connection. Can you remind me – we’re running 10.3 now. Would ArcGIS Pro become available to us simply by keeping current with our maintenance agreement or is there an additional cost? And what would the cost for keeping current with maintenance/updates be.
John – the issue that’s prompting our need to upgrade is that we want to create more reliable elevation datasets for the City. We have LiDAR data but not the tools to convert it to contour lines. I found a support article that shows how to do this with 3D Analyst and/or Spatial Analyst but am wondering if the 3D tools provided in ArcGIS Pro would also be able to do this. Likewise, in creating a raster elevation dataset and building footprints/heights/etc.
At this time, 3D analysis is the major functionality that we are missing.
