Diana, plumbers do seem to be so hard to find these days, I have trouble myself with this exact issue. Finding plumbers, electricians, concrete folks, hvac companies, is an ongoing task for us all. I frequently go with a company for a while until their service starts to take a dive, then have to go hunting again. Also, frequently a company that sends me their A team ends up sending you their B team after I recommend them! There is just no way around it, public contracting is a pain. To find contractors like this I use 3 tricks:

First: I visit the better business bureau and start calling down the list. Here is a link to a list I googled filtered by accredited plumbers.

https://www.bbb.org/search?city=molalla&find_country=USA&find_entity=10113-300&find_id=4429_17000-200&find_latlng=45.147345%2C-122.577032&find_loc=Molalla%2C%20OR&find_text=Plumbing%20Renovation&find_type=Category&page=1&sort=Distance&state=or

Second, If that doesn’t work, then I check with City Hall for a list of all the plumbers that have Molalla Business Licenses, their names and numbers are all on file.

Third, If that still doesn’t work, then I search the General Ledger to find plumbers that have been recently paid by the City in the Past. Sometimes Gerald has used one on a big project or something, and a new relationship is possible. For example, I’ve recently used 3 Mountains Plumbing: (503) 470-4743. But they had some problems on the job so we take the bad wit the good.

If all that still doesn’t work than I would shut off the drinking fountain so it doesn’t leak until I can find someone. That usually means advertising for my need somehow, whether a facebook post on Molalla Now, or sending my need to a clearing house company of some kind who can get the word out to multiple plumbers: many plumbers subscribe to the clearing house companies and ONLY answer requests for service that comes through them.

Respectfully,

Andy Peters
