Hi Chaunee,

I called her back. She stated that they are requesting additional information from 15% to check identities. I told her that they had our kids’ DOB and SS numbers but that we would not be providing them with a copy of their birth certificates. Reason being is that they cannot guarantee that they wont have a data breach and loose all of my children’s identity information. With SS, DOB, and copy of birth certificate our children’s identities can be compromised which can have a lasting and life long impact to their well-being. She noted that if I refused then they can suspend my coverage until the information is provided.

So, here is where we stand. My wife and I will not provide them this information. It was their duty and the City’s to determine that the information was true and accurate and I signed a statement saying that there are criminal ramifications if I gave false information. I have done my part and taken on that responsibility. WC Earhart needs to do their part and provide coverage and drop this issue. My family is tied together electronically and have been forever. They have ways of verifying that our children have been covered going back to their date of birth thru BCBS – Oregon yet they choose not to do it.

If WC Earhart will not cover my family then the City will need to provide some other form of coverage with BCBS – Oregon or perhaps it is time to look at another provider. I have no issue negotiating an alternative to WC Earhart and Teamsters. Thanks.
