Hello all,

I know you are all hard at work and are doing amazing things!

The Library staff is working hard to make sure people are getting materials and other things they need and want. I'm always impressed with their creativity and dedication to serving the community. Here is what I sent Robert Thompson for the Bulletin about the Library:

The Molalla Library staff is creatively thinking of ways to continue serving our community. Staff are now creating book bundles of three to six books similar in theme, such as cozy mysteries, westerns, cookbooks, gardening, picture and board books, fantasy, and so many more! The bundles are available outside the library during curbside service hours. Pick a bundle and leave the paper describing the theme with the person at the door. If you are just dropping by to pick one up without a curbside appointment, make sure the staff person has your name and library card number. This is a great way to discover new authors or subjects.

Instead of a book sale, the Library is offering discarded titles for free. They are available during our curbside hours. There is no need to tell anyone if you take a few. The selection is refreshed as there is room on the cart.

An online form library patrons can fill out and submit for librarians to select some titles for you based on your interests is coming soon. It will be posted on our website and asks questions about your interests, favorite authors, and other things to help staff provide you with materials you will enjoy. There are sections for books, DVDs, and music. Watch the library's Facebook page and website for details.

Fall is here! Library staff has been working hard to find ways to continue programs remotely. The app used for the Summer Reading Challenge, Beanstack, will also be used for some reading challenges for all ages this fall. Grab and go kits will include crafts and the new Season of Spices monthly club. All information about these programs will be posted on our website and Facebook pages. We have purchased new books on homeschooling and are working on ways to support parents and teachers in remote learning.

The Molalla Library is also on Pinterest. Some the boards include Diverse Experiences, Homeschooling Resources, and pictures from the Summer 2020 Beanstack adventures which were part of the Summer Reading Challenge. Take a look. New titles are being added on a regular basis to the boards for you to use as another tool to find your next great read.

Just a reminder: when calling to make an appointment for curbside service or to request materials, please have your library card number ready so library staff can best help you. All library staff are committed to serving this community the best we can.

Have a great weekend!

Diana

All – In light of this negativity I think it is important to “push the positive”. What I mean by that is going the extra mile to get the word out on the good things you/we do here citywide. According to some we either haven’t done anything or what we have done is just good enough or doing our job. Shoot Darlene and I anything and everything that is positive and reflects moving forward that can make a special point.
