Subject: BLM Protest Today

All – Today there is a scheduled organized BLM Protest at Long Park from 3:00pm – 7:00pm. The organizer has been coordinating with the Chief and Lt. Long and they have a detailed logistical plan for this afternoon and evening. We have every reason to believe that this protest will be peaceful and our Police Department is doing everything they can to promote safety for our community and the protesters as well. Protesting in America is an inalienable right and should be protected. However, we have heard rumors of “counter protesting”. I am not sure what that actually means but it has heightened concern. Because of that concern we will be closing City Hall at 2:00pm today. If you choose, you may leave the building at that time. Let me know if you have further questions.
