Dan,

FYI. We are trying to set aside money for playground equipment replacement but every year we are having to make repairs to restroom doors because of the transients and drug users destroying the doors and making the restrooms unsafe for families. We are now at a point where we have to do full door replacements at Fox Park and Clark Park. This will cost us between $9.5K-$10K because we are having to install heavy duty security doors that they can’t destroy.

To put this into perspective, that is almost half of what it will take to replace playground equipment in one park. We’ve tried to get out if front of that issue so that families could enjoy the parks and not be faced with equipment that isn’t fully functioning. There is only so much money that goes around and at some point the community and Council is going to have to decide if they want a viable park system or continue with repairing the outfall and destruction brought about by things that keep certain undesirables tethered to this community. Right now it is unfortunately the latter.
