FYI. Views are inside PD. I look really tired in the other one.

Subject: video access

Stuart, attached are two screenshots from Jason Clifford’s computer from this morning, logged in as Jason (he had no screensaver). He has access to a server 216.134.160.12, which allows him to view the feed from cameras in City Hall, the Police Dept, parks. It appears he has access to all camera user groups. Can we have a conversation about this? The Police Chief, Dan, Gerald and I just reviewed this and are concerned about what access is out there.

Questions:

  1. Is 216.134.160.12 an internally facing server? Or do we need to be concerned that users can access this feed from outside our firewalls.
  2. Do we have a list of current users authorized to access these feeds and which groups they belong to? I can’t from my computer, so that tells me someone expressly authorized access for Mr. Clifford.
  3. If someone expressly authorized it, do we have records of who authorized?
  4. the oldest instance of logging in to these cameras in Chrome Browser history is Feb 23rd, even though his history goes back to Feb 3rd. Was this access recently granted?

The intent here is purely to understand and check our internal processes, in order to protect employees and public information, as part of a holistic check of PW operations. NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT CHANGE ANY SETTINGS AT ALL UNTIL EXPRESSLY ORDERED TO. But at some point, expect at the very least we will need to exclude non-PD personnel from the user groups with access to video feed from inside the Police Dept.

Thank you,

Andy Peters
